Corrosión del cobre y el acero en condiciones atmosféricas

La investigación se realizó en entorno rural-urbano con el objetivo de evaluar la corrosión atmosférica de acero al carbono y cobre. Para determinar la categoría de corrosividad del ambiente, se utilizó la norma ISO 9223. Los contaminantes atmosféricos se determinaron de acuerdo con las metodologías y protocolos descritos en la norma ISO 9225, utilizando el método de vela húmeda para medir los iones cloruro (Cl-) y el plato de sulfatación para detectar el dióxido de azufre (SO2). Los resultados indica que el contaminante SO2 se clasifica dentro de los parámetros P0 a P1, lo que indica niveles de potencial corrosivo bajos, mientras que al contaminante Cl- se le asigna un índice de agresividad de S2, reconocido como alto. En cuanto al categoría de corrosividad de los materiales en el ambiente de estudio, el acero al carbón mostró una clasificación C2 definida como baja, el cobre categoría C1 interpretada como muy baja.
